Brief History on Bhavananda

- According to the ACBS Disciples Database, Bhavananda was initiated by ACBSP in 1969.

- He appeared in Andy Warhol films in - hmm - non-Vaishnava contexts, after his initiation. (For example, "Ciao, Manhattan" staff list contains his legal and initiated

Bhavananda

name too.)

- He rose in authority within ISKCON in the following years, emerging as the head of the Mayapur project in 1975.

- In 1977, he was arrested for murder, when he supposedly shot a Muslim peasant, when a mob of Muslim protesters attacked Mayapur (TKG Diary).

- In July 1977, and as per request of Tamal (!), Prabhupada officially appointed Bhavananda as a ritvik, with 10 other of his "main" disciples.

- Poison theorists accuse Bhavananda of administering poison in Prabhupada's food, in coopoeration with other leading disciples (Tamal? Bhakti Caru?), in 1977 November.

- He very much enjoyed to rule and command, led a flamboyant, luxurious lifestyle, not well fit for renunciation of sannyasa. He ruled with an iron fist; he exercised his power by psychical terror (Bhaktavasya, Gimmegames and Jagat wrote such things here at Istagosthi; Maria Ekstrand and others write this elsewhere)

- He broke the regulative principles (sanctioned by ousting form ISKCON if committed by rank and file devotees) wile being an initiated devotee, a leader, later a "guru". (Letter to GBC, quoted by Nori Muster, at surrealist.org; and quoted by Pada in many places.) This was known to Jagat Guru, Bhagavan, Mukunda, Sivarama, Tamal Krishna and Ramesvara Swamis.

- He is named as a defendant in the Turley lawsuit; surrealist.org, Pada, Rocana d. all reinforce that he committed sexual predator acts.)

- He was never exposed to authorities, he is still in ISKCON. He is allowed to give lectures.(Articles on VNN and Chakra, photos at the websites of Sydney and Mayapur ISKCON temples.)
