After a year and a half of hiding his illicit affair with Pranada dasi, Satsvarupa dasa (SD) was finally forced to admit to his real position. It ultimately became clear to all who had eyes to see, that he was neither acarya nor guru, nor yet a sannyasi.

The GBC has done nothing to force Satvarupa to tell us what happened in Dallas when he was in command when children were horribly abused, and in Gita Nagari when he was in command when children were horribly abused, but the GBC now fires Satvarupa for a harmless penile malfeasance?

Satsvarupas letter to the devotee community leads us to believe that this was just a little peccadillo, his mistake being to sit alone with a woman, his female counsellor/ therapist. We are left wondering at what point the counselling stopped and the therapy began, and whether there were no male counsellors/ therapists available who could have given the erstwhile maharaja appropriate guidance.

The problem that we are dealing with here, and which was entirely avoidable and correctable was that, while this was going on, and for a year and a half afterwards, SD deliberately continued to maintain the pretence of being an acarya, guru and sannyasi. Can you say, "coverup"? Worse, even after the fact of these revelations, his GBC-user-friendly cohorts who patrol the corridors of power in ISKCON, have attempted to keep this façade in place, and are still attempting to squelch any dissent.

It is very commendable that Satsvarupa Maharaja apologized for his behavior. It is very much like him to be humble and honest. But one wonders if anything would have been said at all if it wasn't for the fact that he was exposed. Lets not forget that his affair with this woman happened a year and a half ago. How many [GBC] gurus have committed these types of acts or worse but since no one publicly denounced it, they just remained as rumors?

Let's not forget the seriousness of what had happened here. Satsvarupa Maharaja had an intimate sexual (no intercourse) [?] affair with a married woman. This woman happened to be his disciple. That is very serious indeed! Yet, he is still allowed to remain a guru with disciples and all. How many religious institutions would allow someone who had committed an adulterous affair to remain in the highest position of the church?

Anyone who dares say that Srila Prabhupada is the main guru for ISKCON is thrown out unto the streets and not allowed back into the temples. But a man who had a sexual affair with a married female, one who took initiation from him is allowed to be worshipped, to have his mantra sang three times a day and to have his picture worship and has the privilege of taking others back to Godhead. Doesn't that sound crazy? What is more [worse], this institution that was established by Srila Prabhupada (which no longer has his spirit) allows other gurus that have committed child abuse to remain gurus-some examples are: Dhanurdhara Swami, Bhakti Vidya Purna Maharaja, Nitai Chand Swami (this one even committed sexual abuse on children). Not only that, but child abusers in this institution have been known to be protected by ISKCON leaders because they have/had important positions. Examples of such individuals are: Satadhanya dasa, Vakresvara Pandit prabhu, etc.

My point is that the leadership in ISKCON is not representative of Srila Prabhupada's ideals. When the position of gurus have degraded to the point that they behaved like "regular men" and do worse things than your average Joe does; when child abusers get protected because of their titles; when devotees get kicked out of the institution because they are a threat to the ones on top who will do anything in their power to stay there; when gurus such as Hridayananda Das Goswami are collecting funds from their disciples so that ISKCON can come up with the money for the gurukula court case- we are dealing with a very corrupt institution.

So, devotees should protest that Satsvasrupa Maharaja fell down but was allowed to remain guru. He apologize and that is good. Now let's demand his resignation! The reason why ISKCON is so corrupted is because the average devotee is afraid to make "Vaisnava aparatha." Don't you see, remaining quiet when things go wrong is worse than committing Vaisnava Aparatha. Not saying anything when witnessing corruption is worse than committing Vaisnava Aparatha.

When the ex-gurukulis were yelling at Prithu (Peter Brinkman) and Beer Krishna to get rid of Dhanurdara, those two stone hearted clods sat there like corrupt politicians and said, we have to keep our favorite child beater gurus.
