ARE GURUS DEMONS?

ARE GURUS DEMONS?
1996/11/19

According to Srila Prabhupada the founder of ISKCON, the first principle of Krishna consciousness is to accept and worship a bona fide pure devotee guru [acharyopasana]. This eternal principle is not at all unlike the “first step” in Christianity: that we must “accept Jesus” as God’s pure represent-ative [i.e. as our guru] in order to proceed any further.

Next, “we become what we worship.” Therefore Srila Prabhupada constantly warns, we must worship the factual pure devotee [guru] in order to become pure ourselves. Moreover, those who worship the still-conditioned “guru” will have numerous difficulties according to the scriptures.

There are elaborate warnings in Krishna consciousness that, in the physical absence of the factually pure devotee, one who is less qualified should never imitate, and accept worship, meant for the highest guru.
Therefore the imitative “gurus” often have difficulties. Srila Prabhupada states that when a neophyte “accepts sins” [as a guru: di “ksha”] he’ll become very sickly or even fall away from serving God, as we’ve witnessed in countless episodes with ISKCON’s “new gurus.”

Some of them have had mysterious “headaches” for twenty years, because they violate this principle. Imitator “gurus” are also severely condemned in scripture as being “the most dangerous elements in human society,” who are “destined for the most obnoxious regions of hell.” [Sri Isopanisad]

Thus, the guru one worships must be free from all material inebriety, such as committing mistakes, illusion, cheating and sensory imperfections. In short, he must be a resident of God’s abode, Srila Prabhupada insists.

Therefore, Srila Prabhupada gave systematic instructions about how to continue the worship of his pure devotee guru lineage in his physical absence. He created a “Governing Body Commission” [GBC] and he instructed them to act merely as a “managerial board” that would administrate the mission, and continue his worship, “on his behalf.”

Srila Prabhupada gave specific warnings that the GBC members should not imitate liberated gurus. This imitation had produced a long and sordid history of havoc, such as fraud, scandals, homosexual gurus, beatings, murder, and so on, as occurred in a “Krishna” movement in the 1930’s.

Despite such dire warnings from Srila Prabhupada some GBC leaders boldly claimed that they were fully pure gurus [like Jesus]. However, as some alleged “gurus” gradually engaged in more and more abominable activities, even homosexual pedophilia, the GBC responded by producing reams of rationalization documents “proving” that the “eternal guru” may become engaged in deviations as: “illicit sex with men, women and maybe children,” criminal activities, eating steaks, even conspiracy to commit murder. In sum, they allegedly “proved” that gurus may act like demons.

However, no bona fide guru or scripture would agree with such “gurus.” Even the Satan worshippers do not openly make a claim that “a person like Jesus might be having sex with children.” Yet the GBC’s “gurus” produce various documents asserting that their “Jesus gurus” may be such demons.

Their idea was recently posted by an ISKCON “guru” on an ISKCON Internet page, i.e. GBC’s “gurus” may sometimes engage in: “illicit sexual intercourse with both men, women and possibly children as well.” [“guru position paper” by ISKCON’s spokesman “Jayadvaita swami”].

Almost simultaneously another ISKCON newsletter “Pritilakshanam” stated in their May 1996 issue: “Let’s pray together that leaders [i.e. “gurus”] weak and compassion and courage (an abuser my be your best friend or even your spiritual master) are eliminated from position of authority.” [i.e. the GBC’s “gurus” might be child or woman abusers.]

This is absurd. A “pure as Jesus” guru is none of the above. He’s not spiritually weak or lacking in compassion or courage. He’s also not a homosexual, a child beater, a sexual predator of children, and so on. Moreover, a guru who is like “Jesus” is not “eliminated from his position of authority” by the popular votes of the congregation or Church managers as is suggested herein. Gurus are not established by ecclesiastical votes.

While Srila Prabhupada was physically present, anyone who would have stated that “eternal gurus may become cheaters, demons, disciple abusers, child molesters and criminals, or they might give their disciples AIDS,” [etc.] would have been IMMEDIATELY removed from ISKCON by Srila Prabhupada, his then GBC, and his sincere followers.

However, nowadays the exact opposite is true, those of us who do not agree with current “ISKCON management” that “the eternal guru may be, or may become, a child sex predator, a demon” [etc.] are often shunned, banned, formally excommunicated, even threatened with physical violence by “the gurus” or their fanatical followers. In other the words the current GBC imposes the diametrical exact opposite standards of guru which Srila Prabhupada had taught up till 1977.

For example, Srila Prabhupada states, in numerous citations, that the eternal guru must be situated beyond the realm of material attraction, especially from mundane sex life [kama].And since ISKCON made a GBC resolution to have all members checked for AIDS, when are we going to see the results, especially for their alleged “gurus”?

Srila Prabhupada also describes that the bona fide guru [or factual link in the guru succession or parampara] is situated or fixed in his eternal position of service to God or Krishna. This is sometimes called bhava-bhakti. Similarly, the guru is also eternal [sad-guru]; he’s free from all material attachments [anartha nivritti]; he’s able to eternally liberate others [paragam]; he’s serving the intimate associates of God, sometimes called the gopis.[nikunja yuno]; he’s qualitatively like God [shaksad hari tvena], he’s situated as the highest devotee [uttama adhikari]; he’s a resident of God’s spiritual abode Krishna loka, and so on.

Moreover, Srila Prabhupada states that anyone who considers that the bona fide guru is subject to mundane contamination is committing a grievous spiritual offense [gurusuh narah matih ..naraka sah] i.e., that anyone who thinks that the eternal guru is conditioned like an ordinary man is a resident of hell [narakah].
How did the 5,000 year tradition of pure gurus transform into a lineage with “demons with a sexual appetites for men, other’s wives, even children” in ISKCON? Here are a few brief facts:

* In 1978 the GBC claimed that eleven of them had been “appointed as gurus,” yet it was well known at that time that some of these alleged gurus were still attracted to sense gratification, even homosexual activities.

[Srila Prabhupada consistently and adamantly states that bona fide gurus are not ecclesiastically appointed and moreover, he said in November 1977 that he was not going to appoint any successor gurus himself.]

* SIMULTANEOUSLY in 1978 the GBC began “consulting” with the known founding father of a homosexual “guru” fiasco in India as their new “spiritual guide on the guru issue.” Srila Prabhupada had warned that this “advisor’s” party were “severe offenders” and moreover that this “advisor’s” homosexual guru fiasco ruined the entire Krishna movement in India and that we should be very careful not to consult with this specific individual.

* SIMULTANEOUSLY the GBC hid, lost or perhaps in some cases destroyed, important documents [there are also numerous strange “gaps” in their documents] especially where Srila Prabhupada instructed his followers that he would not appoint gurus, that they should not visit the advisor, [such as ALL of his thousands of letters, most of his 1977 conversations, etc.]

* SIMULTANEOUSLY the GBC severely represses those who do not agree that they are gurus. Devotees who “ask questions” are shunned, repressed, banned, harassed, threatened, even beaten. Some were killed.

* SIMULTANEOUSLY the GBC systematically eliminates the followers of Srila Prabhupada who object to the worship of their homosexual and pedophile tinged “guru” lineage. The worshippers of Srila Prabhupada are often branded by most GBC members as “fallen, envious, rascals, liars, demons, poison snakes, etc.” [GBC’s have incited violent rhetoric.]

Leaders began to distort the idea of what a guru is. A few highlights:

* In 1977 leaders held secret meetings giving themselves “guru” titles.

* In 1978 leaders made a homosexual guru fiasco leader their “advisor.”

* In 1979 they began to harass, even threaten to kill, innocent devotees.

* In 1980 they said gurus might smoke pot and chase disciples for sex..

* Ramesvara, Hamsadutta, Tamal Krishna swami and others admitted that the “guru appointment” was a cheating hoax. Yet they remained “gurus.”

* Leaders made a paper stating that gurus such as Lord Brahma fall, but Srila Prabhupada had removed Nitai from ISKCON in 1976 for stating this.

* In 1982 they said that their “advisor guru” was actually ...a demon.

* They ignored warnings that persons like their “guru” in Mayapura were homosexual pedophiles. A major wave of child molestation resulted.

* In 1984 our associate was threatened with death by a “guru.”

* In 1985 an eye-witness said the “gurus” were using black magic.

* In 1986 they “voted” a known homosexual peodphile to be worshipped by children, simultaneously they “voted in” 20 new gurus. Guru by vote?

* They orchestrated the assassination of our associate and we were told by the Berkeley Police that they wanted to kill us next.

* Jane Wallace of CBS news was astonished that Kirtanananda swami was being massaged by 50 boys [she recognized that he was a gay pedophile] and the GBC sat there blithely singing along to his glorification.

* Various documents were made stating that gurus are or become demons.

* In 1990 the GBC stated that the person who was credited with poisoning the Krishna guru in the 1930’s was now their example of a bona fide guru!

* In 1996 some GBC were chastised by the ex-children in their schools for STILL keeping one of the children’s abusers in the post of “guru.”

The simple point is that, whereas Srila Prabhupada always states that the guru is pure, his alleged “leaders” say the guru is the most degraded person, even far more degraded than the average materialistic person.

These histories are elaborate and we welcome you to read some of our more comprehensive documents. We’d like to call upon all sincere Hindus, scholars, and devotees of Krishna to help us reform the idea that Krishna’s pure guru chain contains criminals or those tinged with “illicit sex with men, women and children.” This is the greatest insult to Hinduism, Lord Krishna and His guru lineage.
