Dear Puranjana -- Hare Krsna, Obeisances All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Since this most auspicious of all ekadasi's is coming up this monday I thought it appropriate to list some of the benefits of following it.

Hari Bol ----Damaghosa

"Without drinking even water you should fast on the Ekadasi that occurs during the light fortnight of the month of Jyestha (may-June)., when the sun travels in the sign of Gemini and Taurus.According to learned personalities, on this day one may bathe and perform acama for purification. But while performing acama one may drink only that amount of water equal to a drop of gold, or that amount which a single mustard seed can be immersed in. Only this amount of water should be placed in the palm, which one should form to resemble a cows ear.If one drinks more water than this, he might as well have drunk wine.

One must certainly not eat anything, for if he does so he breaks his fast. This rigid fast is in effect from sunrise on ekadasi to sunrise on dvadasi. If a person endeavors to observe this great fast very strictly, he easily achieves the results of observing all 24 ekadasi fasts throughout the year." "O Bhimasena, one who can fast on this special ekadasi in this way reaps the benefits of having fasted on every ekadasi during the year. "Whoever fasts on this ekadasi receives the merits of bathing in all the places of pilgrimage, giving all kinds of charities, and fasting on all the dark and light ekadasis. Whoever fasts on this ekadasi truly becomes a great person and achieves all wealth, grains, strength and health. And at the fearful moment of death, the terrible yamadutas whose complexions are yellow and black and who brandish huge clubs and twirl mystic pasa ropes in the air, will refuse to approach him."

Rather such a faithful soul will at once be taken to the supreme abode of Lord Visnu, by the Visnu dutas, whose transcendentally beautiful forms are clothed in gorgeous yellowish garments and who each hold a disk, club, conch, and lotus in their four hands. "Thereafter, to remove all his sins, the devotee should honor this ekadasi fast with full faith in the Lord and with full control of his senses. Whether his sins are equal in volume to Mount Sumeru or to Mandaracala Hill, if he or she observes this ekadasi, the sins all become nullified and are burned to ashes. Such is the great power of this ekadasi.

"Observing this ekadasi, which is merged with dvadasi, frees one from the horrible sin of killing a brahamana, drinking liquor and wine, becomming envious of ones spiritual master and ignoring his instructions, and continually telling lies."

Dear Puranjana: Someone showed me a catalogue a few months back, can't recall the name of it, in it was a photo of a CD made by Tamal and group. It was spooky, just looking at the cover of it gave me an awful feeling. On the cover's front was a picture of a spiral maze with the invitation 'Get Lost', which was the title of the CD. It has come to mind again recently and I'm wondering if you have seen it? Hare Krishna,

Thanks very much for you very courageous account of your "spiritual life" with a person who is now a GBC/ Gaudiya Matha rubber stamped "mahabhagavata acharya," but who is really: (1) a demoniac sexual and psychological torturer, (2) a person who will abandon his responsibility to his own wife and child, and to the women and children of ISKCON by jettisoning varnasrama for ISKCON, (3) a person who supports the vicious homosexual pedophile worship "as good as God" lineage program, ad infinitum. In sum, just the kind of violent, violator, sexual pervert, dirty pig, pirate, etc. that the GBC/ Gaudiya Matha types like to declare as "Krishna's successor." Your "ex-husband" is thus one of the people who threw women and children off the ship into shark infested waters, after abusing if not sexually molesting them, just exactly as violent predator pirates have done for centuries. Your account is very wonderful since it is truly an outpouring from your heart. Bravo!

"Krishna's successors" indeed! These people are scum-bag pirate's successors. And in fact one ex-gurukuli used to describe their regime to me as "the butt pirates." This is more accurate than "Krishna's successors." Of course, don't tell Narayana Maharaja, he has said, "What! These pirates are way past the level of mere bramanas in the modes of goodness (ritviks), they are diksha guru acharyas, as pure as Lord Chaitanya." Ummm hmmm. Sorry, no amount of rubber stamping will turn a butt pirate's regime into Vaikuntha. We hope one day he will make a public explanation of why he has supported this nonsense, and his "maunam samyam raksati" silence on this issue simply looks like he does not know what an acharya is.

Your other points are also good. Folks like Laxmimoni dasi named as members of "a panel member to discuss abuse" is hypocritical. Agreed. She has compromised with the GBC all along. Point well taken. What we meant as "good" primarily is that this "Mahamantra" fellow sounds like a real goon, and so at least they have reigned in one guy. That is better than nothing. This might also place similar goons "on notice" not to harass devotee women and children. Also, at least "officially" there is some idea that these abuses have to be addressed, monitored and reigned in. This also means that anyone who reports abuses to this so-called panel, and the case is not dealt with, they finally have some legal ISKCON body to go back to and address. The buck stops somewhere instead of nowhere.

We'd also agree with you that the main reason most of the GBC are addressing these abuses, at all, is because of (lawsuit/ outside/ our?) pressure and not due to a sincere desire to rectify. Another point is that since some of the ex-children are now getting involved, we consider them more serious since many of them are victims. In sum, even if it is mostly show-bottle, some women and children might be saved and that is good. Some of the ex-children might also realize the value of the ideal, and they might start to implement this more seriously without the faker's club members being involved.

Some of the ex-children have already told me confidentially that they know that many "old-timers" are weak if not compromised, but that the current system is all that there is in place at the moment. That some of the Nazi generals are heading up the Nuremburg trials is of course a compromise, agreed. So, yes, can the fox count the chickens? Not really, but the principle of monitoring is at least being discussed. We also think that the fact that some of the ex-children are getting involved in these processes is a good start, and perhaps it is due to trying to pacify them that something is being done at all. In sum, it is perhaps due to the Children Of Krishna types that this issue was addressed --at all. So we are giving them some credit here.

Also agreed, these GBC style people have cried lots of crocodile tears and there are doubts whether there has been a real change of heart. Hence, the Turley suit is required because the only thing a lot of them undersrtand is a bigger stick. A change of heart has not been seen, otherwise they would have helped these children a long time ago. And as for the Gaudiya Matha clones, they would also have apologized to these children a long time ago for their role in supporting the GBC's "enforced cult ritualistic worship of homosexual pedophiles project," a sort of ditto clone of their 1936 model. Instead, they simply say, "Oh we keep making the same mistakes, but we are gurus." Hmmmmmph! A "mistake" even the trashman never makes, worshipping butt sex as pure devotional service. OK, that proves these folks are not acharyas doesn't it? Of course after they also rubber stamped homosexual Ananta Vasudeva, they made it murder to complain, no pun intended. So they have this tendency to mix butt packers and purity, and enforce it with bad siddhanta and more if required.

Dear Pada (I don't know your name, so please excuse this):

It was good to hear that Mahamantra was been disciplined in some way, but since it was meted out by a GBC-approved committee, how can it be taken as anything other than hypocrisy? The GBC is full of men who are wife and child abusers, and who have never paid restitution to the innocents they offended; instead, they have gloried in their abandonment of their responsibilities, calling it "renunciation." I found it truly laughable that Laxmimoni is a member of this ISKCON-approved child protection committee: I remember her dry fanaticism and spiritual emptiness, nor should it be lost on your readers that she is the mother of a son who is a quadrapeligic due (in part, at least) to her neglect and is also spearheading the Turley gurukula lawsuit.

For those of you who want an example of what I mean by abuse by a GBC member, I respectfully append an excerpt of the autobiography I'm writing and hope that it will serve as food for thought and as ammunition against the continuing tyranny of these yamadutas in the dress of sannyasis.

Here it is:

During the years shortly after the death of Prabhupada in 1977, legions of devotees left the movement. Some say that the excesses of the GBC, who had usurped the whole guru business and tolerated widespread corruption, were responsible. However, I firmly believe that the real cause was the end of the cult of personality that Prabhupada's presence had sustained. Once he died, the bubble burst. The GBC and ISKCON leaders responded to the rebellion that ensued by raising their doomsday fanaticism to a fever pitch. Xxxxx was and remains in their inner circle.

Had I any idea of what Xxxxx had in mind when he unexpectedly told me that he would stay overnight with us en route to the New York temple, I would have told him to go straight to hell. Never in my life have I regretted any decision more and never have I paid for it more dearly. Xxxxx was in full demonic mode when my son and I met him at Kennedy Airport, getting off the plane without acknowledging us and looking like an enraged wart hog that had been hastily dressed in a crumpled dhoti. He walked along with his gigantic nostrils flared in disgust, as if suddenly aware of his own stench.

What I am about to recount is infinitely more disgusting, however: consider yourself warned! It began when we took a cab from the airport to my apartment. Totally unexpectedly and in full view of my son, Xxxxx began to grab at me (I was sitting in the front seat next to the driver), with a face blank but for the glittering beady eyes and malicious leer of a sexual pervert. Astonished and repulsed beyond words, I tried to stop him, slapping his hand and telling him to stop, but he continued undaunted until we got out of the taxi.

Ignorant of what had just happened, my mother and brother greeted him very decently, but he said next to nothing: he had something else on his mind. To wit, as soon as my son was asleep in the other twin bed opposite us, he insisted on having sex, answering my protests (I reminded him that he, a GBC member, was openly breaking the regulative principle against illicit sex) by forcing himself on me, claiming that it was his right because "married people can have sex." I was terrified that my mother and brother might hear us, what to speak of my son.

Worse, he treated me as if I were a cheap prostitute by forcing his vile tongue into my mouth and ejaculating onto his soiled dhoti. In the morning, he locked himself into the bedroom alone with me and repeated the night's performance at least twice. He did the same thing that night. During Sunday, when I took him to the park with my son, he tried to grab at me again and was similarly repulsed. He also called me a prostitute because, according to him, I should have been able to save $100 out of the $400 I earned a month.

What this worse-than-rape experience did to my soul is hard to describe. I knew that I was done with Xxxxx forever, but still, trapped as I was in circumstances I could not substantially change without tremendous support and counseling, I felt myself more zombie than human. Moreover, he ended his assault on my body by trying to assault my reason, telling me as we took a cab together to the city Monday morning that nuclear bombs were so freely available in New York City that the drugstores secretly carried them. I laughed out loud at this insanity and got a venomous stare in response.

As the cab dropped me off near my humble job on 34th Street, Xxxxx, his uglier than warthog face distorted with hate, handed me $100 and again called me a prostitute. If anything good came out of this nightmare, it was my realization once and for all that evil exists and is personified in people like Xxxxx, demons in human form who are devoid of all genuine humanity. Like Harpies from Greek myth, they pollute all they touch. This is undeniably what Xxxxx intended when he fucked me (sorry, but that is the best term for what he did) in my childhood home and when he harassed me in the Botanical Gardens, which had been a beloved refuge for much of my life. Monster!

When I think of the devotees who used to come to visit my sister and I back in 1968-1969 when we were young teenagers and how innocent and sincere we all were, I still feel blank horror at the thought of Xxxxx's deliberate pollution of my home. No wonder I felt I had to get out of there, and taking my son and the ever-present suitcases, flew to Los Angeles and into the final stage of my journey out of the Hare Krishna movement.

BADRI: It is in this light that ISKCON’s members see the special position of Srila Prabhupada, read his Bhaktivedanta purports, and work to maintain the standards, practices, and goals he personally established.

[PADA: No, you read the purports by all kinds of fools, idiots, molesters and homosexuals. For example, Hrdayananda says that two homosexuals are acharyas in his book, and you distribute that book....]

BADRI: ISKCON sees Srila Prabhupada as not just one of many Vedic voices but rather as that world acarya sent directly by the Supreme Lord to craft the process of deliverance for this place and time.

[PADA: So, that is why the GBC made Sridhara Maharaja their shiksa guru in 1978? And Narayana Maharaja was your GBC "rasika advisor" especially after 1986?]

BADRI: Srila Prabhupada himself said, "My books will be the law books for the next ten thousand years." For the members of ISKCON, the words of Srila Prabhupada are the template by which all other statements are to be measured.

[PADA: So, why are you changing his books?]

BADRI: Founder-Acarya The title founder-acarya is given to an empowered personality who founds a spiritual institution and whose teachings and practices form the basis of that institution. These teachings are then continued by the succeeding gurus in that line.
