come the GBC looked at the pedophiles like they were pure devotees? I remember
that in many temples if a pedophile man was caught having sex with a little boy

I don't understand why this verse was changed among many other verses. NNV: I realize that you feel "ripped off" by Krishna for making Sulocan the martyr and leaving you embarrasingly alive. Disappointingly for you, neither I nor my fictional "party" has any intention of bumping you off. So far, you have simply increased the sales of Dramamine.

To whom? So we have good reason to believe that Ramesvara's regime was behind

LITERALISM ABANDONISM AND SPIRITUALISM
All the problems within our society can be classified as being the result of two primary causes, which might be defined as Literalism and Abandonism. These are the two extremes: attaching too literal a meaning to the words of the Vedas and the orders of the Spiritual Master and on the other end abandoning the instructions of Guru and Sastra and I’d like to begin by giving a few examples of what I mean.
Literalism means to apply a primitive or simple meaning based directly upon the letter of a directive, without figurative or metaphysical subtleties. In other words, to make a statement absolute and admit of no conditions or exceptions. Generally, even well intentioned comments become a source of disturbance and offence when subjected to this sort of transmutation, for we encounter very few situations in life that ARE without conditions or exceptions. As the saying goes, there is an exception to EVERY rule.
But, say for example, if a bramacari with an average IQ of 100, who might for the sake of argument have been an unqualified factory worker before joining the movement, was preaching to a lady, who just happened to be a Professor of philosophy with an IQ of 160. Would he be justified in thinking (by dint of his occupying a male body) that he was nine times more intelligent than the lady before him? This then, would be an inconsistency. Proving that we cannot quote the statements of the Manu Samhita as absolute, for they are not without conditions or exceptions. I can conceive of a time thousands of years ago when Brahmana boys who were trained in knowledge from childhood and cultivated the memory to such an extent that they could memorise all 20,000 Vedic verses, might display enormous intelligence. But in this day and age, when men and women are equal in education and intelligence, such remarks are inappropriate and offensive.
I can imagine my critics arguing, ‘but the Manu Samhita is referring to spiritual intelligence not material’. Not so! To make a distinction between spiritual and material knowledge is a modern concept based on the Christian notion of religion being something higher than our everyday existence. According to Vedic Dharma, duty (mundane work) and religion are one. Intelligence means the ability to comprehend or understand and men in this age clearly do not have any advantage over women in this area. In most cases women think far more clearly and achieve higher grades at school. By applying reason we can therefore, see these statements as being as relevant to us as the ones that advocate austerity and mind control as a means of salvation. They belong to a different era and refer to dissimilar conditions.
Further, if we were to base our every action on quotes by Prabhupada, running to see what Prabhupada has said on any given situation before we acted - simple functioning would become difficult. For not only did Prabhupada often give contradictory instructions to different people and sometimes changed his mind, most of what he said in his letters and conversations were based on very particular circumstances and are not applicable to all situations univerally.
So to automatically stamp his words with absolute authority is in the majority of cases nothing more than a distortion of the truth, when Prabhupada was himself both liberal and flexible. This might be called Literalism. Taking even casual words as absolute imperatives. By relentlessly quoting Prabhupada out of context, Literalist devotees, therefore, misrepresent the beautiful, harmonious and magnanimous nature of the Krsna Consciousness philosophy, by giving it such a narrow and closed slant. The result is that female devotees believe Prabhupada’s teachings ARE prejudiced against women. Ex-Gurukula children believe Prabhupada Was guilty of not caring about the children and 20 - 30 year devotees BELIEVE that Krsna Consciousness is unattainable and impracticable in their household lives, because they are unable to follow ALL the finite absolute imperatives. If their daughter wants to go to university and become a lawyer, will they refer first to Prabhupada’s letters and then say, ‘no Prabhupada say’s this is unnecessary for women?’
This is unworkable and putting Prabhupada’s words into a single category marked absolute, whereas in fact, they fit into several categories, has been one of the most detrimental and destructive forces within our society, when actually, EVERYTHING is open to debate, analysis and change where necessary. Therefore it say’s in the Nectar of Devotion that OVER-ATTACHMENT to rules and regulations is detrimental to devotional service. At the other end of the divide we see that many senior devotees generally ignored Prabhupada’s instructions. Prabhupada told Satsvarupa to make the Gurukula his life’s work. A year later he was in a different part of the world doing something entirely different. Prabhupada repeatedly told the teachers not to beat the children and to give them all facility. Today Iskcon stands accused of the worst case of child abuse in modern times. There is also documented evidence that Kirtanananda, Tamal, Hansadutta and so many others continually ignored Prabhupada’s direct instructions on a number of important matters. This might be called Abandonism – intentionally forsaking the orders of the Spiritual Master.
In hundreds and thousands of different ways these two follies have destroyed what Srila Prabhupada, in his love and wisdom, tried to do. Due to Literalist tendancies devotees are viewed by most as unworldly fanatics. Due to Abandonist tendancies and not following Prabhupada’s superior instructions everything has failed and the last Iskcon devotee may soon be asked to switch the lights off as he leaves the building. When devotees see that things have gone wrong they naturally swing from abandonist to Literalist in an attempt to correct the errors. Deviant abandonist devotees also use a lot of literalist rhetoric to reinforce their own authority. But just as the law is not based upon the letter of the law, but the spirit of the law, represented by a scales for justice. Krsna Consciousness is not based upon the letter of Prabhupada’s words, but the spirit in which they were spoken and its proper understanding lies in the ‘balance’ of those principles.
That does not mean that I am advancing Abandonist theories. I believe that one should take the order of the spiritual master as his / her life and soul. Srila Prabhupada demonstrated this himself. But this is an altogether different argument. What I’m suggesting is that the spirit of the instruction has priority over the letter of the instruction and the spirit of Prabhupada’s instructions has gone more or less unrecognised. It is said that an acharya teaches by example and it’s the example, which is MOST important. I therefore advocate a third alternative, Spiritualism: following the order of the Spiritual Master in the mood and spirit of the Spiritual Master, which in this case is love, humility, mercy and compassion.
Great devotees like Srila Prabhupada are called Paramahansa’s or swan-like, because of the swans ability to extract milk from water. Thereby taking the essence only. This is applicable to the polemic, that it is the essence or spirit of Prabhupada’s instructions that are most significant. We must therefore stop foolishly quoting Prabhupada at every turn and instead try to be a bit more loving, generous, optimistic, free-spirited, truthful, conscientious and flexible LIKE him.
Is this his legacy that he was one of the most thoughtful persons that ever lived and we his disciples are afraid to think? I don’t think that’s what Prabhupada wanted. It is only a society of intelligent, thoughtful persons that could hope to have any impact in spreading Krsna Consciousness amongst the educated people of the world. It suited the leaders of Iskcon to preach that devotees should follow, not question and certainly not criticise. I remember my Regional Secretary’s treating me as if I was a child, with insufficient intelligence even to use the bathroom on my own, which I found highly insulting. They had plenty of literalist quotes to back up their claim that I should surrender to THEIR instructions, but this was a culture that they created for their own benefit. We can now see that it was never Prabhupada’s program. Progress then, should not be seen in terms of Literalist revival, but enlightened Spiritualism.

Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, Founder Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, being privy to recently revealed forensic and pathological evidence made public by an un-official investigation, are convinced that the matter of A. C. Bhaktivedanta's death and the suspicious circumstances surrounding it, warrants a thorough [and formal investigation] governmental inquiry. "perhaps at least a wrongful death suit"
{It is not our intention to falsely accuse anyone, or to commit slander.} The mission of the undersigned parties is to make public what has already been documented and published in America (publicity should not be the goal vis-a-vis justice), i.e the murder of Bhaktivedanta Swami by the dispensation of arsenic "hypotheitical at this point", From facts disclosed by the investigation, it would appear that Swamiji was administered arsenic in His food and medicine, prior to, and in the final days before His death.
{The documented evidence points to the leading disciples of His Divine Grace as conspirators and perpetrators of the crime, citing gain, greed, and a lust for power as motivation. [Whereas] The victim himself claimed that He had been poisoned and that He had knowledge of a conspiracy to poison Him (Audio tapes of the victim's declarations are available).
2. [Whereas] Positive forensic (audio) test results of "whispers" (spoken in the Swami's room, prior to His death) containing the word "poison." No samples were available from the time immediately prior to His death.

{Following the demise of A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami, the society was subjected to murder, suicides, beatings and exiles. Nowhere in the long history of Hinduism, has there ever been such ridicule and shame. Within the last twenty-three years, the sweet bhajan and kirtan of Vaisnavaism has been relegated by opinion, to the activities of a cult. Currently, this society which professes to be devoted to Sri Vishnu, is facing a $US 400,000,000 civil action suit in Dallas Texas. The prosecuting attorney (Windle Turley), claims that at least a thousand children have been sexually and physically abused by the Hindu cult (The Hare Krishnas). In fact, the mission to spread the culture and ancient philosophy of Mother India, has been usurped by deviants and alleged murderers who have acted outside the tenets of Hinduism. Our goal is to terminate the false concept, that a devotee of Sri Krishna could commit murder or subject little children to abuse and torture. The only way this can be achieved, is to bring to trial the true culprits: the alleged murderers of His Divine Grace Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who are also responsible for the abuse of our children.}

Bhaktivedanta Swami was an Indian citizen ( born in Bengal), and His alleged murder took place in India (Vrindavan), under the jurisdiction of Indian law, the onus of such an investigation lies with the Government of India. On our path, we promise to help in any way directed. We the petitioners, appeal to the law-makers, the law-keepers, the media and proud citizens of the Indian sub-continent, to help us by investigating the serious allegations placed before us.
