1) PRODUCT LIABILITY
PADA's local self-admitted shyster lawyer friend has told us an interesting "strange but true" tale, that came into his office recently. A woman who works as a cocktail waitress was wearing some type of "glue on bra," which worked good with the first box. When she got the second box, the glue formula was not correct, so it burned her skin, and now she has a small, but apparently permanent, blotch. She thought that the bra company should pay her, oh say, AT LEAST a million dollars for permanently disfiguring her, even though it is a very minor blotch.
Our lawyer pal told her that yes, she could certainly get something, maybe
not a million, but that the bra company would fight this sparing no expense. And
thus it would take more money than he had to fight them. He therefore could not
do this case. BUT! He knew who would, he said that she should go to his pals at
a PRODUCT LIABILITY law office and get them to do it on contigency. And she is
now doing that. Question, if people think a minor blotch is worth at least a million
dollars, why hasn't a group of say 2 or 6 devotee parents started what this lady
is doing, a long way back, and got a lawyer (a product liability lawyer like Turley)
to get some help for the SYSTEMATIC molesting? Apparently, it costs nothing but
a little time and effort? They could have then added other cases later, as Turley
is doing. Why could this not have been done? And why do people see a mere blotch
as worth at least a million dollars, but major starving, beating and molesting
is worth -- little or no effort at all? We are just baffled here.

Dear pada,
Isn't if funny? Some of your readers say they want istigosthi, then people who
do not agree with them are against Prabhupada? That is how leaders get people
beat up, we have seen that. Harikesha people beat up devotees all the time saying
they are against Prabhupada. What kind of istogosthi? You are right, ISKCON leaders
always say we disagree because we are against Prabhupada, and we have seen people
beaten up too. You are right. Maybe these children were always against Prabhupada
too? So that is why they were beaten? This sounds very wrong to me. These people
have some very weird ideas.

2) CAUSE OF HARASSING DEVOTEES
[PADA: Apparently, there is proof that we are all in good company. When people say "the Prabhupadanugas (ie many of pada's readers) are the enemy," this problem has been going on since time immemorial.]
SRILA PRABHUPADA: "So this is Nityananda. Nityananda-vamsa means one who takes the risk of preaching work, he can claim Nityananda-vamsa. Not that easy-going. The preaching work is not easy-going. There are so many difficulties. All the big, big preachers... Sri Ramanujacarya. His life was attempted to be killed. Why Ramanujacarya? My Guru Maharaja was attempted to be killed. Twenty-five thousand rupees were raised fund for bribing the police officer. He told me personally. The Navadvipa, Navadvipa Gosais, they wanted to kill him. So preaching work is always risky." (Srimad-Bhagavatam Lecture 1.2.5 Vrndavana, October 16, 1972)
"Just like in the Bible, the first injunction is 'Thou shall not kill.' This means the people were, in those days, at least people who were all around Christ, they were very much expert in killing. Otherwise why he says first, 'Thou shall not kill'? So this injunction must be followed. Unfortunately they first of all killed Jesus Christ: You are speaking 'Thou shall not kill'? I shall kill you. Just see. This is the position. 'So what is my fault? You want to kill me?' 'Because you are speaking of God, therefore we shall kill you.' And actually it actually happened. This is demonic. (Bhagavad-gita Lecture 16.7 Hawaii, February 3, 1975)
[PADA: Srila Prabhupada also said that when people want to kill a preacher, that means he is being effective, that means he is being blessed by Krishna. And that is why he said that he might be killed, just as Lord Jesus was killed. Lord Jesus' preaching was upsetting the status quo local Pharisee's business. Srila Saraswati thakura was similarly upsetting the status quo of the smartas. And Srila Prabhupada was also preaching very powerfully, and so some folks became envious of that as well.
Currently, the Prabhupadanugas are preaching that Srila Prabhupada should be worshipped as the guru, and as such, they are sometimes getting harassed as a reaction. Yet the same envious people who threaten preachers have always been in existence since the beginning of time in this world, but the devotee sees that this is Krishna's mercy. That means he is having an impact, and he has Krishna's blessings. Even Lord Brahma was attacked by some demons, and they said, "chop him up," which is what some of our attackers say, verbatim?
And similarly, Srila Prabhupada also said that his envious God Brothers might
try to harm him, just like some of our envious God brothers say they want to harm
the Prabhupadanugas! Nothing new here! Vahi bat or what! Chewing the chewed. This
is the way of this world. So we should not be distressed or shocked by this, rather
we should feel that we are in good company when we are getting harassed with these
types of threats. Even Krishna's friends, when the demons came to attack, they
were all happy and they were slapping each other on the back --as they entered
the snake's mouth. They were not seeing these attacks as bad, rather they said,
well since Krishna is our friend, thus we are being attacked, so very good! And
the gopis would imitate the demons attacking Krishna in their own plays in great
delight, since the devotees are happy that the demons are going after them and
their Lord, that means that they are very blessed. This is perhaps the biggest
secret. Hah!
thanks pd]

Subject: Re: Print Prabhupada's Original Books!!!
Dear Locanananda Prabhu
Haribol! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! I apologize for my "fiery" letter and please forgive any offence. Your article is, as usual, superexcellent and absolutely first-class and completely bona fide. I am sure it will confirm the determination of almost all the devotees that we should be distributing and printing Srila Prabhupada's original books.
My only point is that we have to be able to give the people Prabhupada's original books. Otherwise there is not so much point making a big public noise about the book changes. What will the people do? Prabhupada's original books are out of print now and unavailable. The BBT have shown they have no intention of printing the original books or allowing anyone else to do it.
We have all seen the KBI fisaco where the BBT engineered a situation that put the control of the organization that was supposed to print Prabhupada's original books in the hands of their own lawyer. And now, almost two years later, KBI have not even printed a single book, and now they have indicated to you they do not intend to print any books at all as "everyone agrees" the BBTI should do it...
It is true of course, everyone agrees that we should be printing and distributing Prabhupada's original books and ONLY THE BBTI DISAGREES... It is ONLY the BBTI who have made the changes, there is no support for them in ISKCON even, so my humble suggestion is it is a little bit unrealistic to think the BBTI will ever print Prabhupada's original books... We have to "do the needful" and get the books back in print so the devotees and the people of the world have access to Prabhupada's original books. That is the main point.
BBTI is not even the "BBT" Prabhupada established. It is simply ISKCON operating under another name. They have nothing to do whatsoever with Prabhupada's BBT. It is simply a con. They are not the BBT and, as Hansadutta Prabhu's case has proved, THEY HAVE NO CLEAR CLAIM TO THE COPYRIGHTS OF PRABHUPADA'S BOOKS. So the copyright issue is not relevant. BBTI have no clear claim to the rights to Prabhupada's books at all. Nothing has changed since Hansadutta's case except Hansadutta "signed over" the copyrights to the BBTI... But it is very unlikely that Hansadutta had the copyrights of Prabhupada's books in his possession so his "signing over" of the copyrights to the BBTI is completely bogus also. So the BBTI is NOT Prabhupada's BBT at all and they do not have any clear claim to the copyrights on Prabhupada's books.
So these sentimental arguments that the "BBTI should do it" are not very relevant. THE BBT PRABHUPADA ESTABLISHED NO LONGER EXISTS. So now the sincere disciples of Srila Prabhupada have to "do the needful" and get Prabhupada's original books back in print and distribute them, perhaps by reestablishing the REAL BBT. This action alone can force the BBTI to print Prabhupada's original books also as in the presence of Prabhupada's original books there is no market for their adulterated versions of many of Prabhupada's books they print [NOT all of them are changed--BBTI still publish some original pre-1977 books as well]
So I hope you are not angry with me and please forgive my offences. I am just hoping the disciples of Srila Prabhupada can work together on at least this one point and get all of Prabhupada's original books back in print and distribute them all over the world in huge quantities accompanied by huge street chanting parties chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. That will make us happy and it will make the world happy and gradually everything will become Vaikuntha and the much awaited golden age in we are expecting to manifest as the result of Lord Caitanya's sankirtana movement spreading all over the world will become manifest.
All glories to your service.On 4 Dec 2000, at 22:48, LFELDA@aol.com wrote:
Dear Madhudvisa Prabhu,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Thank you for your fiery letter. Of course, I agree with you that the BBT should
only be printing Srila Prabhupada's original books. Even if they stopped printing
the adulterated version and only printed the original editions, they are still
going to sell whatever stock remains. Would you propose they burn the remaining
stock of books or sell them? So for a while they would have both versions available
for sale. Not that a book distributor would carry two sets of books with him on
the street, but some would be assigned to sell out the remaining stock while others
could immediately begin to sell the originals.
The point I make in the article is in reference to the basic economic principle of supply and demand. I was proposing that the BBT should see the demand for the originals and respond by supplying them. It is a kind of trick that has already worked with one member of the GBC. These men are all about making profit calculations instead of doing what would most please Srila Prabhupada. I really believe they no longer know how to please Srila Prabhupada. That is why the whole show is disintegrating. So I am taking their misconception and turning it around to get them to do the right thing. I have done the same thing by quoting a mundane scholar's opinion about the way changes are supposed to be made in sacred writings. Actually, Srila Prabhupada said there are thousands of scholars and we do not care for any of them. We should only be thinking in terms of honoring Srila Prabhupada. But to trick the mundane BBT managers, I have thrown in this interview with Dr. Postman just to show them that the scholars they are trying to impress do not at all appreciate their ordinary treatment of our sacred texts.
You may ask why I have written so often on this topic, and I must say that it is only because I consider it to be the most important issue with the most long-lasting sinister effect on the spreading of Krishna consciousness. Also, I felt it was important to give devotees the most information possible about why it was wrong to change Srila Prabhupada's books so they could become as convinced as both of us are. The BBT editors are very smart and their presentation can sway anyone who is not fully aware of the counter arguments. I am also pointing out how one deviation has led to another, all of them diminishing the position of Srila Prabhupada in the eyes of the devotees and in the eyes of the world.
As far as printing the books independently, this was attempted by Hansaduta and company and they ended up in court having to spend a small fortune doing battle with the BBTI. Legally speaking, it is still required that whoever wishes to print Srila Prabhupada's books must first obtain the permission of the BBT to avoid ending up again in court. Krishna Books was authorized to print the original editions and they failed to do so because of other legal complications, specifically, the many obstacles they have encountered in trying to obtain the status of a non-profit corporation. But you are right, that if they really desired to print the original edition of Srila Prabhupada's books, it would have been done by now.
In your letter, you are calling for a world-wide organization of Srila Prabhupada disciples to take up the mission of sankirtana and book distribution. I am pleased to report that a group of devotees are moving in that direction by organizing a brahminical cyber council that will base its discussions and decisions solely on the teachings of Srila Prabhupada. If you would like to be involved in the formation of this new world-wide organization, please let me know and I will send you a rough draft of its mission statement.
In your letter, you have referred to certain devotees as demons. I suggest that a more proper description would be "devotees in the mode of ignorance" as long as there is the slightest possibility that they can be reformed.
To conclude, I feel grateful to have had your association, especially when you were in New York, and to see your great web site glorifying Srila Prabhupada. I know how frustrating it can be to have to deal with ISKCON and the BBT and then to tolerate their bogus policies and harrassment of devotees. This is all coming to a head now, and those who have taken complete shelter of Srila Prabhupada's lotus feet will come out unscathed. Others will be burned to a crisp. So let's continue to encourage devotees to join the sankirtana party as soon as possible and build our own faith by constantly chanting Hare Krishna. As long as we are following the instructions of our great preceptor, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, our success in going back to Godhead is guaranteed, so let us continue the crusade to reestablish his teachings in their pure original form.
Hoping this finds you well, I remain
Your servant, Locanananda Das
P.S. I noticed that you sent out CC's of your letter to me. Could you send my reply to the same list of recipients? I wouldn't want them to think that I have taken a bogus position. Thanks again. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
