HUMBOLT COUNTY, California: Some Prabhupadanuga devotees in the Eureka - Arcata area would like to do some preaching there. If some devotees live up there already that we do not know about yet, let us know who you are. Or if you were planning on moving there, let us know as well. This area is famous for its "giant redwood trees" and its pretty nice. A devotee lived in a bus there for a few years and he did some preaching at Humbolt University, so it is a pretty receptive area. Please contact pada for details.

BERKELEY UPDATE: Four young women, second generation devotees, just moved here. They are trying to start their own "techno bhajan" band, using electronic music as a background. We wish them great success. To be honest, the current "straight edge" punk music made by some of the other Krishna youth does not inspire us at all. These ladies seem to want to make music that is both pleasant to hear, as well as having some inner meanings of spirituality. "Bhakta Vic" of the "Shelter Band" also wrote to pada that he finds us too "hard core," if you can believe that? And he finds that folks like Dhanurdara are nice guys. Yet most of the other second generation devotees we know of dislike Dhanuradara and in fact they would like to beat him up?

We like bhakta Vic prabhu, and he is always cordial in writing us, and we wish him well, but we think that he should get into some better music styles and break with the GBC bad guys affiliations. And maybe he should even do what some of these ladies want to do, at least musically speaking. In any case, we were hoping that some of the younger devotee musicians would come along and make better sounding music, and maybe these ladies will do that. There are two young men, also second generation devotees, who are making a nice electronic music studio here in Berkeley as well, and maybe these parties can work on some projects together? We will update you as they make progress.

I asked her the meaning and she said "to me." She said that "kisikho" means "to someone else" and the word "tujkho" means "to you." Hope this helps, Ys, *****

1) IRM SNAFU CONTINUES. One thing we notice about folks is how they treat the devotees in general. Even if one theoretically has some alleged "greater understanding of Srila Prabhupada" it is not a license to harass, insult, agress, make argumentum ad hominem attacks, and even worse, repeat the menacing and sub-violent sloganeering campaigns of the GBC from the post-1977 era? So we were somewhat amazed when recently the IRM team, the Adridharana, Krishna kanta and Yaduraja types, began to say that pada's editor "simply wants to be the next guru," and in sum they are repeating the identical cult slogans that were already used against us from the 1978 Ramesvara, Kirtanananda, Jayatirtha et al. era, cult slogans that the GBC used extensively. The jihad-ophiles, part two? Oh swell!

The first problem was that these types of slogans, "You are simply envious of Srila Prabhupada and so you just want to sit in his seat" and so on, produced no small amount of very cult-like hatred, and subsequent bannings, beatings, violence of all types, and of course secret as well as highly publicized murders against us -- the alleged "envious class." And the IRM simply wants more of the same, after we all have seen the odious results? And we all know that the IRM's Adri was a big player in that post-1978 GBC goonda team, and in sum the IRM cheif helped (or de facto helped) try to get us lynched at high noon for nearly 20 years. And the IRM is still -- not even repentant? The only apparent grief being, that their bullets missed us the first time around? And worse, the GBC itself has sort of almost withdrawn this type of cult rhetoric, "you are envious of guru," no doubt because they know that their speakers of this cult rhetoric have been linked to crimes and murders already, and they no longer want to be viewed as fomenting that? In short, the GBC has learned that their using this type of cult rhetoric is a mistake, a "mistake" that even incited the murders of devotees, but the IRM has -- not?

The second problem with the GBC (and now the IRM?) using these slogans was that they were so effective, that their cult slogans were eventually used as a sort of "catch all phrase" to suppress complaints of all types, including complaints against the molestation problems and so on. Again, no repentance or apology from the IRM sector that their support of the GBC's molester-con cult project caused untold grief to the ISKCON youth. That, despite that psychology experts told pada that "apologies from supporters" (like IRM's Adri) of the molester regime would help the victims very substantially? Of course neither has Narayana Maharaja apologized for his supporting that bogus guru cult either? To his credit, NM is at least not saying his opponents "just want to leap into Srila Prabhupada's seat," as the IRM is saying. Even he has more sense than to forward this complaint knowing that anyone who forwards this idea nowadays is seen as a sort of cult crank, and possibly a fomenter of murder? This is like a mad dictatorship, "I think that your regime is causing starvation, Mr. Dictator, how do you respond"? "Oh, envious of Jesus are we"?

No concern for their victims. So, no help for the children before, no help now, no nothing except "you are all blasphemers who want to be the next Jesus," as Adri's team has said all along from 1978, helping the molester-con project and imperiling the lives of the children and us who protested their abuse? The good news of course is that once people have to use this type of cult sloganeering, whether GBC or IRM, it means they have run out of rabbits to pull out of their hat and they have simply no other good means to defeat counter arguments. Oh you are envious of Jesus, a blasphemer, and so you will probably be beaten or murdered soon, case dismissed. We won. No, you have lost the argument. No one respects the GBC for using this rhetoric and no one will respect the IRM for continuing it. We are hereby publicly disassociating from the IRM, as their continued use of this Ramesvara style rhetoric which has already caused banning, beating, molesting and murder in the past, and that they continue using that rhetoric means they want more of these crimes against the devotees to continue. We do not.

And this line of cult rhetoric also has a long history, in medieval times, "Oh, you are envious of Jesus, off to the inquisition torture chamber then"! And later in the Gaudiya Matha, those who protested the bogus guru Vasudeva were also branded as "envious of guru." And for that matter those who protest Saddam Hussein in Irag are "envious of Saddam." And so on. Cult speak. Ummm, can't these sloganeering folks ever think up something original? This is like watching a re-run of a boring soap opera? And yet at the same time, quite seriously for a moment here, this sloganeering has had a tragic effect even on Pure Devotees, "Oh, envious of the Pharisees are you, well, Jesus is not good then." Yikes! So we are somewhat surprised that in the name of a "reform of the GBC," the same old sub-violent rhetorical wizard's ghosts of the GBC's past are coming back to speak to us again, using the same identical slogans, but this time coming from people who claim at least to be -- the antidote for the GBC disease, the IRM? This actually occurs on the late night horror show, a victim comes to the police station for help, suddenly the victim realizes "the good police man" is really the escaped psycho mental patient from the asylum who attacked him earlier? The same old problem. More good news is: that we had actually wanted a legal written proof that these types of slogans were being used to suppress the molester-con project, and Adri's team just sent it to us, confirming its use? Hare Krishnas to declare bankruptcy to avoid abuse lawsuit:
Hare Krishna congregations named in a lawsuit alleging sexual and emotional abuse of boarding school students will file for bankruptcy to avoid being sued. A spokesman for the Hindu sect said about a dozen congregations will start filing for bankruptcy reorganisation next week in several states. The group hopes that if their plan is approved by federal bankruptcy judges, the $400 million (280 million) lawsuit filed in Dallas by former boarding school students will be dismissed.

Anuttama Dasa, a Maryland-based spokesman for the International Society of Krishna Consciousness, or ISKCON, said: "We don't believe that innocent members and congregations should be held accountable for the deviant behaviour of individual acts committed 20 or 30 years ago." ISKCON also plans to set up a fund to compensate children who may have been victimised in Hare Krishna schools during the 1970s and 1980s. The Texas lawsuit alleges young children at Krishna schools in India and the United States were terrorised by their instructors.

There are 94 plaintiffs in the lawsuit, according to the office of Windle Turley, the Dallas attorney who filed the lawsuit. They allege that young girls were given as brides to older men who donated to the religious community. Children were also allegedly deprived of medical care, scrubbed with steel wool until their skin bled, and prevented from leaving the schools.

Mr Turley says the abuse started in 1972 at ISKCON's first school in Dallas, and continued in six other US schools and two in India. He says ISKCON knew that sex offenders were working in their schools. ISKCON formed a "Child Protection Office" in 1998 to investigate allegations of abuse and some members have been removed from the Krishna community as a result of the probes, Mr Dasa said.

Subject: URGENT REPORT ON BANKRUPTCY FILING

February 6, 2002 Dear Maharajas and Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Below and attached as a file, please find a copy of a media release that will be distributed this morning, February 6 at 11:45 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time-USA). It explains the Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization that will be filed by many ISKCON temples in North America later this month.

This impending action is likely to draw widespread media attention. Please note it carefully. Devotees in leadership positions and communications roles should familiarize themselves with it. At the very least, members of our communities and congregations will be concerned and want to understand clearly what is taking place. GBC's are requested to forward this to your TP's.

As explained in the release, first and foremost this is not a liquidation. In the United States, a corporation (ISKCON temples are all individual corporations), when facing financial claims against them that are beyond their capacity to pay, can file a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. In brief, this allows the corporation to continue to operate and to work with the Federal Court to reach an agreement to pay debtors an amount it can reasonably assume. Similar actions have been taken by many, many respectable organizations in the past, including Texaco, Continental Airlines, Federated Department Stores (Macy's and Bloomingdales), etc.

Second, the bankruptcy reorganization will allow ISKCON temples to set up a reasonable and just fund, under the guidance of the Federal Court, for young people that may have been abused. Third, this arrangement will protect Srila Prabhupada's temples from claimants, including the excessive demands of the Turley suit, which threaten to close many temples.

Washington, D.C.-At least a dozen temples, related entities and individuals affiliated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), better known as the Hare Krishna Movement, will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection later this month. The Chapter 11 bankruptcy focuses on reorganization rather than liquidation of religious assets. It is being filed to deal with claimants including a $400 million dollar lawsuit against Krishna temples. That suit, first filed in Federal Court in June 2000, alleges children were abused at the religious society's boarding schools in the 1970's and 1980's. The Krishnas prevailed when the suit was dismissed in September 2001, but a similar $400 million suit was later filed in Texas State Court.

The lawsuit, ISKCON leaders say, seeks far more money than the financial value of all the Krishna temples in North America. In essence, the suit threatens to shut down an entire religion. "Rather than wasting millions of dollars to fight this suit, Chapter 11 reorganization will help ISKCON communities to establish a substantial, yet reasonable, fund to help any young person who may have been abused," said Anuttama Dasa, ISKCON Director of Communications. "We want first and foremost to heal our communities and our young people, " Dasa said.

Through the reorganization, Krishnas hope to assure that all victims of past abuse-including youth who may have chosen not to join the suit-are compensated according to the severity of their grievance. "Chapter 11 protection will also assure that innocent families and congregations do not have their places of worship sold out from under them," said Dasa. "We believe that innocent people should not be punished for the deeds of individual deviants who acted in total violation of our religious principles and teachings."

The New York Times reported in 1999 that the Krishnas were "unusually candid" in their efforts to address past abuse. In 1990, ISKCON established policies mandating abuse prevention training and the reporting of any allegations of abuse to government authorities. In 1996, an independent Children of Krishna organization was formed to provide grants for education and training for Krishna youth. In 1998, a professionally staffed Child Protection Office was established to investigate allegations of past abuse, provide grants for Krishna youth who may have been abused, and to assure the ongoing protection of Krishna children.

"Chapter 11 is a further effort to address past problems by creating an orderly and efficient procedure for dealing with and maximizing return to claimants," said Sandy Frey, Bankruptcy Counsel.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is part of the ancient Vaishnava tradition, a monotheistic faith within Hindu culture. ISKCON was founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who first brought the Krishna tradition from India to the west in 1965.

Dallas, Texas-The Honorable Sam A. Lindsay, Judge of the United States District Court in Dallas, in a decision filed September 28, has dismissed a lawsuit seeking $400 million dollars in damages from several dozen temples, entities and individuals affiliated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), better known as the Hare Krishna movement, a monotheistic Vaishnava denomination within the Hindu tradition.

The suit was originally filed on June 12, 2000. It alleged that various forms of child abuse occurred in the 1970's and 1980's at several parochial schools and temples affiliated with ISKCON. The case attempted to use the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) to corral allegations of abuse at several schools into one Federal case.

"This was clearly a victory for religious freedom," said David Liberman, one of the attorneys for ISKCON defendants. "The plaintiffs' attorney disingenuously sought to apply the RICO act in a attempt to go after the assets of innocent people and temple congregations. This effort would have opened the door for churches and religious institutions across the country to be attacked in a way never intended by the Congressional authors of the RICO law."

Significantly, many respected faiths and religious organizations including the National Council of Churches, the United States Catholic Conference, and the Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs, and the American Jewish Congress filed an Amicus Curiae brief, or Friends of the Court document, in support of the Krishna position on the RICO claim.

Krishna leaders assert that the suit sought to close temples and seize their assets, instead of pursuing and punishing those deviant individuals who may have been abusive of children.

"We are greatly pleased and relieved by Judge Lindsay's decision on this case," said Anuttama Dasa, ISKCON Director of Communications. "The decision will protect innocent families whose temples were threatened with closure by this overreaching suit. At the same time, we remain committed to assure the safety of our children and will continue to reach out proactively to help any young person who may have suffered in the past, " Dasa said.

ISKCON policies mandate immediate reporting of any allegations of abuse to government authorities. An independent organization, Children of Krishna, was formed in 1996 to provide grants for education and counseling for Krishna youth. In 1998, a professionally staffed Child Protection Office (CPO) was established to investigate all allegations of abuse, to provide assistance for youth, and to assure that Krishna communities comply with requirements for child safety and abuse prevention.

UPDATE ON TURLEY LAWSUIT
Dallas, Texas---Most are aware that the Turley child abuse lawsuit was dismissed from United States Federal Court on September 28, 2001. On October 26, 2001, Mr. Turley filed almost the exact same suit in the Texas State Court, less the RICO (racketeering) charges that were thrown out by the Federal Court.

All the original plaintiffs and defendants are still named. A few additional individuals have been added. Mr. Turley continues to attack Srila Prabhupada by naming him as the leader of a civil conspiracy in this suit. Turley also alleges that ISKCON temples and the GBC comprise a single, monolithic entity.

Currently, attorneys for the various ISKCON entities threatened by the suit are planning their strategy for the next phase of litigation. A quick resolution to this case, as we saw in the Federal case, is unlikely. The case is very serious, and it is expected that it will be litigated over a long period of time, and will likely be very costly.

One needs a council begging licence to legally beg in Britain.I don't understand why the police allow unlicensed, illegal begging in Glasgow city centre, especially if its aggressive and OTT. They have plenty of legal power to stop unlicensed begging, so it must be a political problem. These are my own anecdotal experiences with the Bill Somerville Hare Krsnas. I detour to avoid all OTT beggars in Glasgow city centre. I stayed in the Bell Street Hostel, so I also know what junkie beggars are like.

These devotees apparently have more academic objectivity and detachment. But I have not spoken to them since 1980.

The Hare Krsnas do not have a council begging licence, so they are begging illegally in Glasgow City centre.The police will not stop them. I would be grateful if the Glasgow Labour councillors would ask the police to stop them. These are my reasons below.Just try walking past those two particular females.If you stop and give them any sort of a response,they will feed on it. They especially feed on aggression.

The ISKCON devotees illegally begging in Glasgow city centre are very aggressive,offensive and OTT, especially the females. They are based at the ISKCON temple at Lesmahagow. They are trained to be evasive.They will not tell the punters anything about the Hare Krsnas,nor will they preach. They just aggressively hustle for money,and try to get the person to say Gauranga. But they won't say what it means,beyond 'Be Happy'.

I zigzag across the street to avoid them, and they zigzag to intercept me,really in my face. They will come right up to my face and say Gauranga. I am being especially harassed by a small black English female, the catalyst for and perpetuator of trouble, and a tall Hungarian female.

August 1999, the tall Hungarian female blocked my way outside EasyEverything,and prevented me from getting past. She had a blade concealed in her right hand. When I moved her out of my way, she ripped my jacket sleeve. I have told the tall Hungarian and the'black English accent'females many times not to approach me, so they annoy me even more. The females are especially into attention seeking through aggression and looney behaviour,and those two are keeping the others going. For example, on one occasion, the black female got a man to stand looking in a shop window.

I zigzagged across the road to avoid her, and she zigzagged to intercept me. Then she approached me and said Gauranga. She apparently has mental problems, but all of them are nuts anyway. When I've tried talking to them to tell them not to approach me again, they will shout' Don't punch me', and try to get strangers to attack me on busy Glasgow streets. Then they will keep on approaching me, and contriving situations at my expense. Glasgow police have been involved a lot. 26.1.2002, the small black English female was still setting ambushes for me when I left Tesco Central, Buchanan Street.

She was aggressively staring at me, and coming right up to my face. On the following Saturday to this date,she was pointing me out to strangers whom she had only met 60 seconds before, telling them to protect her. I was sitting on the bench eating my food, ignoring the povocation. The street people tell me afterwards what she has been saying. She is extremely vindictive, and keeps on trying to create a situation,right up to the present. The tall Hungarian female is just as bad, two vindictive, looney idiots looking for trouble.

I knew they were too OTT to be strangers. But the Lesmahagow devotees are much more agressive and 'in your face' anyway than the other ISKCON UK devotees. When the London devotees are collecting on Oxford Street, they are very friendly and conversational, and less over-assertive. The Scottish, Lesmahagow Yatra is run by Bill Somerville/Balobadra das and his daughter, Kunte Somerville.Until recently, I thought he was in Hungary, and these were complete strangers who were targeting me. If one stops for the Lesmahagow females, and give them any response, they will be even more pesty and in your face. They feed off any response, especially aggression, because Bill Somerville trains them that way. Its a very effective tactic for 'collecting Lakshmi', to use their euphemistic language.

I know Bill Somerville from 1980. He's a very nasty, manipulative man with psycological problems, who has found his niche with the Hare Krsnas. He was trying it on with me at that time.January 1980, his colleague, Rohininandana das/Robert Housten, managed to get £113 from me. They are mega-chancers who test how far they can go with gullable young kids. Bill seems to be into recruiting brainwashed Hungarian females now, and getting them to beg in Glasgow City Centre 12 hours a day, sometimes more,every day of the year. They recruit very few Scottish kids for long. The kids who stay with them for long have a mental look about them. Their families don't give a damn about them,so they are looking for love and a false sense of family. The Bill Somerville family will ruthlessly exploit this,and get them onto the streets to beg. Only the Hare Krsnas get young people to spend so much time begging like that on the streets,and Bill is extreme by their standards.

I now know that Kunte Somerville, Bill's daughter, was getting the females to target me. Those two particular females were more persistent than the rest, because they are more mental,and they are Kunte's friends. The small black English female has a wild, mental look about her.

13.5.1999, I crossed to the edge of a pavement to avoid her on Gordon Street, strongly indicating that I didn't want to be approached. So,Kunte Somerville crossed the full length of the pavement and raised her hand to 12 inches from my face. I measured it exactly later. This would be standard practice with a complete stranger anyway, and Glasgow police do nothing about it, so they continue the practice, especially if their victim had stopped for them, or responded to them on previous occasions. The males stopped approaching me too closely after I warned them several times in very blunt language. But that only encourages the females, especially Kunte's two mental girl friends.

Sunday,13.10.2000. A tall, English male crossed from the other side of Buchanan Street to intercept me, right up to my face, Gauranga. This was after I had zigzagged across the street to avoid him,my normal practice. While I was speaking bluntly to him, he was gradually moving closer to me.He accused me of 'being offensive to his Guru Maharaj, Bill Somerville'. Then he suddenly headbutted me. (Bill also loses self control easily, like Mike Tyson the Boxer,a similar personality type). The tall mental male with the London accent was aggressively stalking me for a long time after that, especially on Buchanan Street.

There were three tall, mental, London accented, males who were coordinating pincer moves against me with the small, mental, cockney accent, black female. For a long time, Buchanan Street was full of English males. Bill was apparently bringing them up from England to coordinate pincer movements against me with the females, and contrive situations. One could closely compare the Bill Somerville family with the Charles Manson extended family or the Third Reich. They are very active in Hungary.

Shiva Rama Swami apparently turns a blind eye to Bill Somerville's Mike Tyson style madness.
